In addition to our membrane switch expertise, SSI can help design, manufacture and assemble complete keyboard assemblies.
Often the membrane switches that SSI provides to its customers are assembled to sub-plates, enclosures and printed circuit boards. In many cases, SSI can procure and assemble these components for our customers in order to provide a turnkey keyboard assembly.
In addition, SSI has experience consolidating these items and in many cases can eliminate the need for redundant components such as sub-plates and membrane switch circuits. In designs where significant component population density is needed, utilizing a printed circuit board is typically required. In the most efficient of designs, SSI can utilize the PCB as the circuit and the sub-plate (hardware such as studs and standoffs can be pressed in the PCB). An overlay with embedded actuators such as stainless steel domes is adhered to the front of the PCB creating a very efficient hybrid design.
Whether we are procuring and assembling traditional keyboard assembly components for its customers or integrating these components into a hybrid design, SSI's involvement in this area can save its customers significant time and money.
Cost Saving Advantages of Hybrid Design:
• Ability to consolidate metal subpanel and PCB
• Ability to consolidate membrane circuit with PCB
• Ability to consolidate PCB's with main PCB
• Lower profile design
